Why talk of an energy ?
Greek εν and εργον: “which puts into action”, energy is “something” which puts into action a system independently of an explicable cause. The notion of electric energy, for example, makes it possible to explain the setting in motion of an electric motor and its capacity to perform work. The chemical energy contained in an explosive explains the setting in motion of a shell. But energy cannot, even in physics where it is the key notion, not be seen, grasped, apprehended, nor even simply defined. One can only observe its effects. Yet this concept is fundamental to solving many problems and explaining many phenomena. Without it, some calculations would be inextricable.
The main characteristics of ordinary energy are:
- localization: it is found in the explosive powder, in the shell animated at a certain speed, in the electric battery, in the mass that has been raised to a certain height, etc.
- accumulation: there may be more or less power left in your phone battery, you can lift a weight so much higher as you do more work by pulling the rope, a gyroscope may turn more and more quickly if you accelerate it, etc.
- transmission: the energy of the battery is transmitted to the bulb or the motor by electric wires; a billiard ball sets the ball it hits in motion and transmits its kinetic energy to it, the lowering counterweight causes the elevator to rise, the electric plate transmits its heat to the pan, etc.
- transformation: electrical energy can be transformed into mechanical energy thanks to a motor, or into light energy thanks to a luminescent diode, chemical energy is transformed into kinetic energy animating the shell, chemical energy is transformed into energy in the battery, etc.
- degeneration: mechanical, electrical, chemical energies can be transformed into calorific energy, but this transformation is partly irreversible. The kinetic energy of the car turns into heat as the brake reduces its speed, but only a small part of the heat energy thus produced can be converted back into mechanical energy. We can distinguish the “noble” energies, which are transformed into each other without losses other than friction or resistance to the passage of electric current, which can theoretically be reduced to zero, while the transformation of a certain quantity of caloric energy in noble energy is only possible for a part, the other part having to be evacuated in the environment (approximately 30% for a steam engine). In the long run, all the noble energies of a system end up transforming into heat and are no longer recoverable: we can therefore say that the noble energy degenerates into thermal energy. This phenomenon is due to the fact that heat corresponds to the kinetic energy of molecules moving in all directions, while the kinetic energy of the shell, for example, is due to the movement of its molecules all in the same direction. . Thermal energy is therefore a form of disorder (the speeds and directions of different molecules are uncontrollable), while noble energies correspond to an order. Here we see the notion of information emerging: we can have information on the current flowing through the heating body, but not on the molecules that the passage of the current sets in motion.
Paradoxically, we can accurately measure the energy of a material system, from its antecedents or its effects, but we cannot define energy as a concept: it is what we call a quantity fundamental quantity, essential for the representation and explanation of the dynamics of a system, but not directly attainable (just as certain mathematical propositions cannot be demonstrated and must be accepted in order to be able to demonstrate other more complex propositions say theorems).
A fundamental principle, in physics, is that of the conservation of energy: this one cannot disappear nor appear, its total quantity in an isolated material system remains constant (even if the fate of the noble energies is to end up in heat : the quantity of heat energy is equal to the sum of the initial quantities).
However, we find these characteristics in what we can call a metapsychic energy (this is also the case for the psychic energy of which psychoanalysts speak about drives or psychic activity in general). It is not possible to define it either, but the concept makes it possible to explain many phenomena linked to love, to its physical expression and to the psychic, precisely by appealing to the characteristics stated above:
- transmission: experience shows that there is transmission of “something”, for example during romantic and sexual reconciliation. It is after such intercourses that have been observed a large number of psychic phenomena, sometimes definitive “connections” of extrasensory faculties. accumulation: of course we cannot measure the accumulated quantities, but we observe that a person who has lived in love situations of the “meta” type in greater number has a greater reserve of energy than the one who has long been deprived of this type of relationship. The presence of energy is recognized by a feeling of fullness, more or less intense and lasting, while the lack of energy results in a feeling of depression.
- location: certain areas of the body, named by Freud “erogenous zones” are particularly important in the amorous exchange, and the protagonists clearly feel what one can call the “transcendence of the organs”: these latter suddenly appear more beautiful, as vibrating or charged with energy, linked to a feeling of ecstasy which culminates in orgasm without a mechanical excitation being necessary as usual. is the solar plexus (probably related by the ancients with the source of all energies transformation: the protagonist first feels a fullness at the sexual level, which is gradually commuted to fullness at the level of the solar plexus, at the same time that the extrasensory faculties, creativity, the perception of present-eternity are nurtured, and other signs of psychic functioning.
- degeneration: certain short-circuits (for example a calculation aiming at jouissance, a regret, a residue of oedipal content …) cause a blockage of the relationship (reflex impotence), hence a frustration which can, if it be prolongs, generate conflict and suffering. It is possible to think of suffering as the degenerate form of metasexual or psychic energy when certain errors are made in relation to the natural laws of love.
The transmission of energy during romantic reconciliation can be recognized in the vocabulary: I feel filled with happiness, I carry you in my heart, love transforms people, all love stories end badly, in general, I am feel completely quickly since we are separated, there is no greater suffering than that which follows a great love … Popular sense finally provides a more correct teaching than do the psychotherapists of the couple, the moralists and sexologists, all far from thinking in terms of energy and natural laws.
This metapsychic energy feeds the extrasensory faculties, which give access to archetypes. Now, a symbol is a quantum of information. The comparison is possible with the light energy (electromagnetic) which enters for example through a window: the light warms the skin, it therefore transports an energy which is transformed here into heat, but the same light conveys images: it is possible to recognize the trees, the sky, the sun, the clouds … Similarly; whoever captures an archetype related to a situation he is wondering about receives affectively as a wave of happiness, and at the mental level information concerning the hidden content of a situation, or its future development , etc. It would therefore be more judicious to speak of energy-information in order to underline this fundamental ambivalence.
The principle of conservation applies partially to psychic energy-information. Whoever has accumulated a certain reserve of energy, during appropriate romantic relationships, does not see it disappear in himself overnight. Nor is an incantation enough to make it appear in someone who has been deprived of it. However, we know that information does not obey the laws of simple additivity: two pieces of information put in relation to each other combine, and the quantity of final information is greater than the sum of the starting information. Likewise, it seems that romantic reconciliation, under the right conditions, makes it possible to generate a quantity of energy-information greater than what the partners could have previously. In other words, the metapsychic energy that we share does not divide, it multiplies. Everything happens as if love allows to raise the levels of consciousness, in particular thanks to the access to the archetypes and to the symbolic messages that they convey.
Note also that no fact has come to contradict the notion of metapsychical energy-information. On the contrary, this notion seems essential to explain the nature of extrasensory messages. Precognition in particular, like remote visions, shows that information that is inaccessible by normal channels can be transmitted in an often very precise manner. It is therefore necessary to postulate the existence of a vector capable of conveying this information by means which are not those of ordinary space-time and its cause-and-effect relations. This is why we can appeal to a metapsychic dimension, a kind of space complementary to the material space, where symbolic relations about the meaning reign supreme. The information energy would be present there in the form of quanta, which would be none other than the archetypes, in resonance with each other and with the events of the material and psychological world. The extrasensory faculties would be kinds of channels connecting the two types of spaces, capable of capturing these quanta of information energy, but requiring a certain quantity of metapsychic energy to accomplish their structuring.
