Qu’est-ce que la métapshychanalyse ?
Metapsychoanalysis is a general theory of human sexuality resulting from the following question:
Does the way of life regards to love and sexuality, that our culture imposes on us, fitting our genetic data and unconscious requirements ?
With his corollary:
What would our amorous behavior and sensibility be like if we allowed the unhinged natural expression of human genetic potential?
These are fundamental questions regarding the organic, genetic, existential, family, moral, educational, social, political, human, philosophical, religious, psychoanalytic, metapsychical, ethnological, anthropological, ecological, economic etc… facets of knowledge.
Oddly, human sciences showed little concern about this essential question, perhaps is it difficult to distinguish the innate from the acquired in human behavior. Morality and religion have established precepts and prohibitions based on beliefs or traditions. Psychoanalysis did not completely released the dominant values system and proved relatively disappointing. Psychiatry has always only reinforced conventional morality. As for sexology, without asking questions about the fundamental nature of the love phenomenon, only describes the biological and physiological aspects of sexual functioning, and yet, only in a limited alimentary and moral context.
So that we ignore what would be a truly natural sexual behavior.
It is clear that our genome does not condemn us to stereotyped and predetermined behaviors. Just as language responds to genetic programming but is available in extremely varied forms, different forms of sexual behavior can respond to innate programming that fixes only certain guidelines. Yet we have to know what these guidelines are, to determine which behaviors do or do not respect them.
Now, we can not pierce the mysteries of an instinct (here the erotic one), without understanding its true function. Among amorous behaviors and impulses a awful lot can not be explained by the imperatives of the species’ reproduction.
Pleasure is never in principle the purpose of an instinctive behavior. He accompanies it, as the gustatory pleasure accompanies the food instinct, but the goal proper is to provide nutrients to the body. In the mainstream conceptions, cemented by Freudism, reproduction and pleasure are very widely regarded as the purposes of sexuality.
The place that metapsychoanalysis has been attributing to non-reproductive drives, derives from first hand observation and the concordance of many elements widely spread in our culture (psychiatry, psychology, psychoanalysis, history, mythology, human ethology etc.). This first function of sexuality would be, according to this postulate, the development of extrasensory faculties and access to a “metapsychic” dimension, as defined for example Carl Gustav Jung.
Why does this question call morality into question?
All of humanity is exposed to the vagaries of morality. Morality has constantly transformed throughout history, with all the consequences this has had on the destinies of individuals. In order to avoid unnecessary tragedies, we must ask ourselves to what extent the dominant morality corresponds to the genetic makeup of the species, and then examine the mechanisms that have led it to what it is today. Only in this way can we restore the harmony to which each of us aspires deep down.
Why does this question call our love and sex lives into question?
We consciously or unconsciously apply the behavioral patterns dictated by society, and we suffer the consequences in our daily lives. These patterns often force us to renounce relationships we feel are essential, leading to all sorts of frustrations, heartbreak, and trauma. In principle, this suffering could be partially avoided if prohibitions and behavioral patterns remained within the bounds of human genetics.
The challenge, therefore, lies in gathering this data and synthesizing it around the “metasexual postulate.” If we succeed, this will then allow us to rethink the traditional value system so that it respects the natural aspirations inherent in the phenomenon of love (which, of course, exclude any form of coercion or violence).
**Why does this question call into question the future of our civilization?
For many reasons: **
Our Promethean civilization was built on the illusion of a human being capable of mastering nature and their own destiny. Metapsychoanalysis helps explain the origin of this age-old drift and allows us to spontaneously rediscover our natural relationship with the environment.
It helps us understand why our culture has favored a rationalist and materialist approach to reality and why, since the Enlightenment, the metapsychic dimension has strangely faded away. Our culture is, in fact, the first to deny magic, or at least to exclude it from everyday life. This denial could be interpreted as a defense mechanism against the anxiety linked to the loss of the metapsychic.
This situation is directly related to the inhibition of extrasensory faculties, reserved for a few rare clairvoyants or telepaths, whereas observations made within the metapsychoanalytic framework show that they belong to the natural functioning of the human psyche. They should play an essential and almost permanent role in individual choices, romantic relationships, the exercise of power, and respect for others and the planet in general, as was the case in certain traditional societies.
The key question, therefore, is why extrasensory abilities do not develop normally under current living conditions. Indeed, one might fear that humankind, driven solely by its intellect (particularly its ego), is incapable of halting the spiraling movement that is leading it toward the destruction of the planet.
