3 motives to rethink morality

• Because morality is the heir of obscurantist periods and does not necessarily correspond to the deep aspirations of the individual and society.
• Because the sources of morality have never been clear, while its confrontation with the notion of genetic programming can help decipher its origins, its avatars and its consequences.
• Because sexual prohibitions cause frustration and suffering which are at the origin of much suffering in our society, notably endemic neurosis. Morality has always been a subject of controversy and the pretext for discrimination, even the extermination of certain classes of individuals. Even today, some countries condemn homosexuality while it is accepted in others. Pedophilia is wreaking havoc throughout the world, in the form of early incest, sex tourism, assault and rape of minors, it is severely punished although it was common until the eighteenth century. Pornography is more widespread than ever, the rate of sex criminals is constantly increasing in prisons. The sacrament of marriage has fallen into disuse, the reign of the nuclear family is giving way to that of the blended family, adultery is tolerated whereas until recently it was penalized…

It would therefore be illusory to consider morality as an absolute value aimed at the good of individuals. Any objective research concerning love and sexuality must be independent of the traditional value system. The challenge is then to define a natural morality, consistent with the genetic data of human sexuality, capable of protecting without harming and achieving unanimity.

Only understanding the natural function of non-reproductive sexuality will allow us to revise morality in accordance with the requirements of our genetic programming.
