Why here the word “supposed”?

“supposed” limiting nuisance means exactly “assumed” limiting nuisance. This is the case with modern ecology: we expect to see ways to limit pollution and other environmental damage through alternative technologies that are more nature-friendly. But these technological advances, even if they are necessary in the immediate future, often mask new nuisances that no one has yet thought of or that industrialists are being forced to conceal.

Unfortunately, the problem is not so simple: the less destructive human activities in the biosphere, the more people will multiply, so that one can fear a spiral without end than the degradation of the natural environment with all its consequences. That is why we need to take a step backwards and not rely solely on technological advances to solve the problem.

Ecogenetics, without minimizing the usefulness of the efforts undertaken, seeks to highlight the root causes of the processes of civilization that have led to the impasse. A machine is not repaired without understanding how it works.
