This is the key to durables reform
All measures to preserve the environment that can be taken are likely to be long-lasting, simply because the galloping population will eventually make them futile.
For example, the pollution generated to date by non-degradable leaching has been produced by some 500 million individuals, mainly from developed countries. Modern, so-called ecological laundry is 95% degradable. We are well aware when we buy them. However, they remain for 5% not degradable. Western habits, however, are widespread throughout the world, under the aegis of globalization. The world population is expected to grow to 12 billion in the coming years. The number of users would therefore be multiplied by 24. Given that 24 X 5 per cent gives 120 per cent, it is clear that measures taken to address this cause of pollution will not prevent a worsening of the situation. This if all housewives started to prefer the fate of the environment over that of their budget, which is certainly due to utopia…
The same applies to the hole in the ozone layer. The success of the Montreal Protocol was welcomed, as CFCs had been abandoned. But the hydrochlorofluorocarbons that replaced them were ultimately also harmful. Their manufacture is expected to be stopped in the industrialised countries in 2020 and in emerging countries in 2025 (except for what is necessary to ensure maintenance, it has been specified…). The most optimistic forecasts suggest a recovery of the ozone layer around 2060. But there is no guarantee that these agreements will be implemented until the end, or that other harmful products will not have been invented by the chemical industry, whose effects will be discovered when it is too late…
All pro-ecological measures face the same difficulties and are likely to be overcome by the demographic explosion. Not to mention the risk that some nations will go back and disintegrate from the rest of the world, especially in the event of economic crisis, famine or conflict.
This is why human ecogenetics intends to go further: while actively supporting measures to protect the environment, it makes every effort to search for the root causes of the current situation, through the fullest possible synthesis of scientific knowledge: biology, de-la-genetique, ecology, psychology, anthropology, archaeology, without forgetting the most beautiful of sciences: common sense…
