Sustainable co-existence

The bet of human ecogenetics is to define a form of civilization as close to ours as possible, but free of harm to the planetary ecosystem, and respecting natural laws. The road is marked by obstacles, but there is nothing to say that it is impossible.

The first is to highlight the root causes of current drift, most of which are related to human psychism and its dysfunctions. This research is in no way opposed to the efforts made to develop the fireworks on which our society relies, such as the transition from a car with a thermal motor to an electric car, from nuclear or coal plants to renewable energies, from chemical monocultures to organic cultivation, etc. It is urgent to preserve the environment by all means.

However, we must ask ourselves what are the reasons for the fireworks on which we depend. Why these addictions, and why indifference to their consequences on nature?

For example, agriculture is one of the major causes of land degradation. But at the root of agriculture, we find our eating habits. We must therefore ask ourselves what is the origin of our dependence on traditional food, and how we could change our table habits so as to develop environmentally friendly agriculture.

A diet better suited to our organization would probably have a less destructive agriculture. We would do a double blow: protect our health + protect nature.

The same reasoning is valid for all the artifacts that our ancestors were able to invent, as for those we invent today. Many of the gadgets that are supposed to make our lives more enjoyable don’t necessarily make us happier, even as they destroy the planet with little fire. It is time to realize this, before things are irreversible.

However, durables coexistence is only possible if population growth does not exceed certain limits. We must therefore also ask ourselves what are the factors responsible for the proliferation of the human species. Many factors are at stake. The challenge to the freedom to reproduce poses ethical problems. It is certainly not by taking coercive measures that the process could be limited in the long term.

The only viable solution is also a general awareness of the causes of the process, which involve many aspects related to reproduction, including patterns of behaviour related to love and sexuality.
