Inventive conceptions are statistically inevitable

For clarity of reasoning, we must consider protected and unprotected relationships separately. The latter obviously have an immediate impact on the probability of fertilization. But protected sex cannot be ruled out, simply because none of the contraceptives are 100% safe. A certain proportion of them lead, against the will of the protagonists, to unexpected fertilizations. The figures given by different surveys indicate a range of 20-40%.

The number of unwanted children is reduced by the effect of voluntary terminations of pregnancy. But the majority of gestations are coming to an end, even all in countries hostile to abortion. Moreover, many regions of the world still have limited access to contraceptives. Not to mention the repulsiveness of some individuals, especially among young people.

We must therefore take into account, on a global scale, and beyond ethical considerations, an irrefragable link between the frequency of sexual intercourse with penetration (protected or not) and birth rate. However, the frequency of such relationships depends on how sexuality is lived in a given society. Between seven a day and one every seven years, according to the morals in force – or the vigour of the couples, there is something to put in half all the general laws to which the demographers cling.
