Violent circles

A vicious circle is always due to interactions between two or more factors that reinforce each other. They appear almost systematically when man violates natural laws by exceeding the limits of resilience of the environment.

The ecological balance of the natural environment is the result of an evolution which, for millions or billions of years, has guaranteed a constant improvement and an extraordinary complexity of the vital mechanisms belonging to the different species. These mechanisms are interdependants, as the evolution of a particular mechanism has been made according to others and has also determined the evolution of others. We’re talking about co-evolution.

From the moment that man intervenes with an artifice that allows him to derive a new advantage from nature, he necessarily acts on certain elements that were in balance with others. There is immediately a cascade of imbalances which must be compensated by new fireworks. These fireworks will in turn lead to imbalances, requiring new fireworks to compensate for them, especially if they reduce the benefits that triggered the chain. In order to maintain its advantages, man is obliged to exercise a greater effect on the environment. The vicious circle settles and the ecosystem degenerates…

Neolithic men begin to consume tubers. They use burning to satisfy their needs. They feed more easily and multiply. They must then burn more and more surfaces for their feeding. Burned areas are only difficult to recover. The land is eroded, deserted and people have to move further. The forest disappears and biodiversity with it. They become more and more dependants on their agriculture and then on their farms. The vicious circle of the whole agricultural has begun, there is soon no longer a single tree, the climate is deteriorating, the hydrological balance of the region is collapsing, the wind is shaving what remains and all that remains is to conquer the land of the neighbours to survive…

There are other more recent vicious circles: global warming raises ocean temperatures, methane compressed in the depths, to which no one had ever thought, escapes into the atmosphere and worsens the greenhouse effect… We invent the car, the cities become uninhabitable and we need more cars to flee them and breathe clean air in the countryside… Chain manufacturing is first perceived as a major advance, workers feel more than ever the void of existence and fill it with ever more “consumption” of objects and food, we need to multiply factories, the boredom at work settles in the norm, consumerism wraps up, contaminates other continents, pollution threatens the planet…

One wants to stop the process, it is essential to know exactly the mechanisms of the various vicious circles which give the spiral of ecological nuisances its exponential appearance. The theories of chaos perfectly describe this kind of phenomenon where certain factors that appear to be negligible at first lead, through a series of vicious circles, to an ever faster descent towards an irreversible catastrophe.

There is an urgent need to implement everything that can give us hope to stop this setback. More and more people are admitting. But nobody really knows where to take things. Human ecogenetics proposes a solution that could change the situation: to go back to the root causes of the phenomenon, i.e. to decipher the psychic and behavioral factors that may have started the race and make us dependants on it. For once we are known, we can act on these factors, changing the rules of education and the conditioning to which we submit our children, and taking measures based on enlightened awareness in order to change our lifestyles against those of responsible adults…
