Of which depends our survival

A sort of promethean illusion suggests that man will always manage to survive and find his happiness, regardless of the environmental abuse.

This belief was possible at a time when environmental damage was negligible. But the situation has been particularly aggravated since the Second World War, with the invention of synthetic pesticides, derived from combat gases, and with the mechanization of agriculture. Half a century, and damage to groundwater and humus reserves, global warming, the hole in the ozone layer, biodiversity damage and many other degradations have taken on such a magnitude that ecological balances are seriously compromised.

It is therefore not an exaggeration to talk about the survival of the biosphere, and especially to fear for the survival of humanity itself.
