Global ecosystem 2

Each region of the globe separated by any geological barrier constitutes an apparently independants biotope, with its own ecosystem. The species developed there coexisted, and evolved according to each other, arriving at a balance ensuring the survival of all. The planet can thus consider itself a mosaic of relatively independants ecosystems.

Things change from the moment when important exchanges occur between different ecosystems. This is the case with air pollution on which the entire planet depends, or with ocean pollution which, according to the sea currents, changes from one ocean to another. Men are not the only ones responsible: large volcanic eruptions, or falls of meteors have regularly obscured the sky all over the globe. The situation is even worse today, with industrial and consumer pollution spreading its waste day after day throughout the biosphere.

Human-induced ecological disorders generate general imbalances, the most telling example of which is global warming. The melting of the ice and the rise of the oceans, the disappearance of glaciers and changes in hydrological regimes, plastic residues, non-degradable pesticides, radioactivity as a result of inevitable accidents or negligence, threaten all regions of the world. We must therefore speak of a global ecosystem that is endangered by human activities.
