Preventing developing countries from achieving the same benefits

It is a matter of justice and common sense. How can we prevent our less privileged human brothers from benefiting from the same advances as us? We have made every effort to convert them to the benefits of Western culture. They have largely married our values and our form of progress. They are entitled to the same benefits.

We have shamefully exploited them for centuries of colonialism, they are now the ones who colonize us economically, flooding our markets with products defying the laws of competition. To save our industry, we should give up our various levels of pay and protection.

So we’re failing and matte. Our industrial power threatens to collapse, either that our market shares are desperately shrunk, or that we should be content with wages of misery. The only solution is that workers in these developing countries quickly become as greedy as we do in terms of wages and working conditions. The prices of their exports would rise and we could cope.

But this means that, in order to avoid economic collapse and its disastrous consequences, we must hope that they start to consume as much as we do. So to pollute and exploit the planet as much as we do. Again, we are failing and matte: this time we must choose between the end of our economy and the end of our biotope…

In order to complicate the whole, the exponential population is responsible for multiplying polluter consumers to the point that, within a few generations, ten or twenty planets would not suffice. Green technologies will never make up for this fatal development. The impasse is total.

What can we do for the time we have left to act? Intervening on ALL tables:
– developing renewable energy technologies and sources as soon as possible, in order to limit the individual ecological footprint to a minimum,
– determining the psychological and psychopathological mechanisms that make us dependants on our form of progress and make it contagious, in order to eradicate false needs as much as possible,
– uncovering the sociopsychological and psychosexual mechanisms that can influence birth rates.

Yet these elements must be integrated by all the people of the world. So there remains a fourth task, and not the least: to make all users of the biosphere become aware of the hidden workings of the harmful system of which we are trapped, including the billions of yearning-consumers who dream of making them in turn the consenting victims…

These measures are difficult, but infinitely more efficient than contradictory discourses, sometimes apocalyptic, sometimes falsely optimistic, which are bombarded by the public and which can only establish an ecological surface consciousness. It is by going back to the root causes of the current situation that we can create an authentic movement to safeguard the planet.
