Illusion

In good rationalists, we are convinced that matter is a reality, and that the spiritual world, or at least the world that some call magic, is an illusion.

It is clear that one cannot buy a car by the action of the mind alone, and that one must use the matter itself to move on foot. Without any muscle at the key, our mind could not even express itself. Matter therefore plays an irrefragable role, even in matters of spirituality. Yet, we do not take the latest limousine that has been paid for its old days, nor even the muscles that have allowed us to live and act throughout life.

Then the question arises whether we take something or not? Unable to answer if one does not admit the existence or inexistence of a spiritual dimension, “metapsychic”, which transcends matter. All cultures except ours considered such a dimension essential. Hence a new question: is our materialistic culture the result of progress, of an evolution of the modern human being towards the liberation of spiritualistic and animistic illusions, or rather the result of a fundamental loss that makes us enslaved by matter and illusion of accomplishing ourselves through objects?

One thing is certain: Animist cultures have never caused an ecological impasse to the height of the one that threatens us today. It is therefore necessary to consider all the hypotheses: it is possible that we have lost during the ages access to an authentic spirituality, replaced by religions on the one hand, and by the cult of matter on the other hand… Making this question clear is one of the issues of human ecogenetics…
