Most humans
The ecological problem is more than a problem of political majority. With the proliferation of humanity, it will be enough for a minority to continue to pollute the seas and the atmosphere to make the disaster irreversible. Unfortunately, this pollution occurs largely in private life, or behind the borders of a state, so that international decisions may not necessarily bring all actors back to reason.
The only solution is to create a general awareness which leads everyone to see objectively the inanity of behaviour directly or indirectly destructive of the environment. Perhaps it will be necessary to fry the debacle closely, to see whole countries suffering from drought and other weather, people dying of hunger and threatening the most affluent, the galloping radioactivity condemning vast areas, the sky darkening with reckless burning to the point of endangering all the cultures of the planet to the family garden…
It often takes the cruelty of concrete situations for the human mind to decide to reconsider its position. But suffering without understanding hardly changes consciousness. The worst suffering will not be of great benefit if the causes of the break-up are not clearly established. These causes are precisely in the mind of “civilized” man.
We will not get away with it in the long run, without questioning the psychoaffective functioning of our form of acculturation, nor going back to its roots both unconscious and historical…
