Theoretical and Empirical Research
The human ecogenetics research programme includes an important theoretical component, on the other hand a series of practical experiments.Theoretical research consists in analysing human behaviors related to ecological disorders, whether they are the cause or the consequence, in order to determine to what extent they are natural or paradoxal. The basic assumption is that any natural behaviour is genetically programmed, with a determined adjustment latitude.
Paradoxic behaviour, contrary to human genetic potential, is on the contrary induced either deliberately from the mind (prohibition of satisfying certain basic needs, neurosis due to too repressive morals, obligation to perform rites harmful to health, smoking, trinching etc.), or by external constraints, therefore by the environment which itself has already been modified by human action (impossibility of feeding naturally in a country too cold, repetitive activity empty of meaning imposed by the necessities of employment, need for escape due to urban life, etc.). It is therefore a question of analysing the interactions, the boomerang effects and the vicious circles that have been established in history, for the most part as a result of artifice introduced by man.
Human behavior, and human psychology, are at the centre of these reciprocal influences, both as causes and as consequences. They concern human relations in their physical environment as well as inter-individual relations within human groups or between groups, knowing that any conflict may have behavioural repercussions. Research therefore involves cognitive and social psychology for the basic functioning of the mind and affect, psychopathology for behavioural dysfunction, and psychoanalysis for unconscious motions.
Empirical research will focus on the physical environment in order to test the practical applications of the proposed solutions: pro-genetic agroforestry, clean energy, pro-genetic food, ecological habitat, proximity to the natural environment, etc.
On the other hand, it will consider how social relations are reorganized from the same discoveries, including the notions of sharing, property, power, beliefs, respect for the natural environment, etc.
Once the responsible mechanisms are better understood and verified on the ground, it will become possible to propose fundamental and achievable solutions, rather than simply palliatives that often only displace nuisances. The acceptance of such solutions by the public should be easier once the cause-effect relationships are clearly formulated, as the reference to genetic determinism of behaviours and adaptability margins allows. It will therefore be a third branch of research, on how research results and possible solutions can be disseminated on a larger scale.
